Due to recent tornadoes and severe storms (“Disaster Events”) in several Indiana counties designated as disaster areas (“Impacted Areas”), the Indiana Department of Insurance has declared a:
- 60-day moratorium on policy cancellations
- Applies only to cancellations/non-renewals due to failure to pay premiums as a direct result of the Disaster Events
- This is a grace period, not a waiver
- Applies only to policyholders in Impacted Areas
- 60-day grace period on license renewals including premium tax and surplus lines premium tax filing
- Applies to licensees, certificate holders and registrants from the Impacted Areas
- Any penalties assessed due to late payment during this 60-day period will be waived
- Duplicate License fee of $10 for producers from Impacted Areas will be waived
- 60-day CE extension applicable only to producers in the Impacted Areas
The Department will accept temporary address changes at no fee electonically through NIPR or faxed to (317) 232-5251 or by phone to (317) 232-2413. The Department is ready to help rebuild damaged or destroyed essential insurance files by allowing copying of its own records with no charge.
