North Carolina implemented the new Designated Home State (DHS) adjuster application.

Refer to the DHS Adjuster Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) document posted on the Department’s website http://www.ncdoi.com under FAQS for Agent, Adjuster, Agency located at http://www.ncdoi.com/ASD/ASD_Agents_Adj_FAQs.aspx or call the Agent Services Division at (919) 807-6800 to clarify the new non-resident adjuster application process.

All non-resident individual adjusters (except those that designate NC as their home state for the purpose of licensing) should re-apply for the non-resident adjuster initial license using the application found on http://www.nipr.com.

Non-resident adjusters who designate NC as their home state for licensing purposes should re-apply for licensure using the resident initial license application.

If a licensee’s records show the renewal fee was paid, they must provide the North Carolina Insurance Department with the following documentation via e-mail to ASDfinancial@ncdoi.gov:

• If renewal was paid through NIPR, send the license information and NIPR renewal transaction number.

• If renewal was paid through SBS External Renewals, send the license information and SBS renewal transaction number.

• If renewal was paid directly to Agent Services Division, send the license information and a copy of the cancelled check (front and back) verifying payment.

Although e-mail is the preferred method to receive the renewal documentation listed above, it may also be faxed to ATTN: Financial Section at 919-715-3794. Please contact the Agent Services Division at (919) 807-6800 if there are any questions.
