The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) launched the use of an electronic resident insurance license application in July. It is expected to speed up the licensing process as well as being more convenient for license applicants to use.
The Electronic Texas Resident Insurance License Application is accessible on the TDI website at: www.tdi.state.tx.us/licensing/agent/Electronic_Appl.html.
TDI has already begun processing electronic nonresident insurance license applications through www.NIPR.com.
The additional capability for resident applications is being launched incrementally, with applications for two license types now available. TDI expects to offer the electronic application option for all license types by the end of 2010.
- General Lines – Life, Accident, Health and HMO
- General Lines – Property and Casualty.
Electronic fingerprinting is required for all resident insurance license applicants and is a separate process from the electronic license application.
NOTE: A tutorial for the electronic resident license application process is available on the TDI website. The resident application and license fees may be submitted either before or after taking the license exam. The application must be submitted within 12 months of passing the exam or the exam must be retaken. If the application is submitted before taking the exam, the exam must be passed within one year or a new license application and fee must be submitted.
Refer to the TDI website for additional information.
