The North Carolina Department of Insurance announced several insurance licensing changes.

Candidate Guide
There is a revised insurance licensing examination candidate guide effective June 1, 2010.  There are new content outlines and new pre-license education provider procedures and requirements.

Fingerprints
Effective October 1, 2010, an applicant for a resident insurance producer license will be required to submit a complete set of the fingerprints.  The fingerprint requirement for a resident public adjuster license is effective July 1, 2010.

Applying For An Insurance License 
Effective October 1, 2010, the resident applicant who has passed the examination for any of the following license types: life, accident/health/sickness, property, casualty, personal lines, surplus lines, Medicare supplement/long term care, auto physical damage, adjuster (company/independent, public, self-employed, hail) must apply online for the license and pay the registration fees via the online process through NIPR.

Print Your Own License 
Effective October 1, 2010, North Carolina will no longer issue a photo license. Licensees may print their own licenses online.
