Most agencies understand that if a producer is selling, soliciting or negotiating, the producer must be licensed in that state. But did you know that your agency must also be licensed?
Agency licensing is required in most states but there are a few exceptions. Agency licensing is optional in Iowa, Tennessee, Vermont, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.
In addition to agency licensing requirements, branch office licensing/registrations can vary by state. Knowing what state requires branch licensing/registrations can be overwhelming. Branch office licensing/registrations may be an option in certain states while some may require a separate license for each location. There are also different sets of branch office licensing/registration requirements for nonresident or resident agencies.
